Trips and Events
Throughout the year we run a number of events ranging from lectures and talks to family trips into the desert and mountains. Occasionally we have also run practical workshops. Sand driver training is required for all sand based events but Mountain and Wadi trips are open to all members subject to vehicle type. Trips are commonly single day events but some involve an overnight camp
Check out links below (or the drop down menus) for types of trip, where future trips will be listed. Due to the heat of the summer months trips are usually limited to between September and March of each year.

Family Fun Trips (what are they?):
ORAC Family Fun Trips allow our members to explore the wilderness of Oman with the guidance of our team. Trips will take you to breathtaking vistas atop mountains, discover ruined forts and villages and even (weather permitting) wadi bashing. Day trips get the family out of the city and two-day trips allow us to reach further and camp in stunning secluded locations across the Western Hajar.
Depending on the expedition, expect graded off-road driving. This requires 4WD cars equipped with low-range and driving time between half to full days. Frequent comfort and sightseeing stops are included but don’t expect suitable toilets or shopping facilities…all part of the adventure. Camping overnight will involve self-sufficiency of each family but often include activities, games and even a cinema!
